Objectives

 

Objectives of the Festival are:
a) to contribute to the diffusion, through exchange of practices and the realisation of events
open to the public, of a culture of respect and celebration of ethnic, sexual, or genderrelated
diversities among human beings;
b) to disseminate information about the meaning of tolerance and anti-discrimination, about
the effects of violence against marginalised groups, about the strategies for progress;
c) to show how the EU, its institutional configuration and the values it is based upon have a
direct, constant and positive impact on the daily life of citizens, via the European programs
and initiatives which offer different opportunities in the field of social integration, civil and
human rights, active participation;
d) to gather different European actors with different experiences at local/national level in the
field of promotion of respect, tolerance, local cultures, and active citizenship in order to
allow them mutual learning and to increase the impact and the effectiveness of their
activities;
e) to promote information as a fundamental right and a tool for participation and democracy
in Europe;
f) to continue developing common methodologies for social integration of disadvantaged
people and implement them in a pilot event (the Festival) at trans-national level;
g) to promote the awareness and the consciousness of diversities around all of us as an
empowering tool for social inclusion and active European citizenship;
h) to promote a long-lasting network of local organizations and actors aiming to have an
European dimension in their social activities.
