The main activity of the Nadara association is to address the urgent needs of the Rom community of the Tirgu Mures region. The intensive fieldwork has enabled the renovation of a neighbourhood (sewage, streets, electricity) and the creation of a “Roma cultural centre”. Since 2002 Nadara is active in the organisation of dance workshops, concerts, and conferences across Europe.
The word “Nadara”, in Romanes language, means “don’t be afraid”. Created in 2002 as cultural association, it’s main activity is to address the urgent needs of the Rom community of the Tirgu Mures region. The intensive fieldwork has enabled the renovation of a neighbourhood (sewage, streets, electricity) and the creation of a “Roma cultural centre”. Thanks to the involvement and the engagement of many Roma artists and people, the association organized several tours and cultural events, as workshops.
La parola “Nadara”, nella lingua Rom, significa “non aver paura”. Creata nel 2002 come associazione culturale, si è concentrata sui bisogni di prima necessità della comunità Rom della regione rumena di Tirgu Mures. L’intenso lavoro sul campo ha permesso di ristrutturare un quartiere (fognature, strade, elettricità) e di creare un centro culturale rom. Grazie al coinvolgimento e all’impegno di molti artisti e persone rom, l’associazione ha organizzato numerosi tour ed eventi culturali, come workshop, concerti e conferenze in giro per l’Europa, compresi progetti di scambio inter-culturali.
